Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all my readers. Our country has so much to be thankful for ... freedom is such a tremendous blessing and for Christians, our belief is that our freedom comes from God. In Ephesians 5:20, the bible says, "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." So we should give thanks to "whom from all blessings flow." I heard an interesting sermon at church on Wednesday night on Thanksgiving .... the preacher was speaking from Job 19 and in that passage Job is speaking to his "friends" about his terrible misery. He says in verse 6, "know not that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net." He goes on to say in verse 10 that, "He (God) hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree." But Job realizes that even after all the terrible tribulation he is undergoing, that he is to be thankful ... he says in verse 25, "For I know that my redeemer liveth (AMEN!!!!), and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth." Please give thanks for our great country and say an extra prayer for our magnificent troops and their families.

And to give you the truth about Thanksgiving and a little laugh along the way, here is Rush Limbaugh's story of Thanksgiving ...

May God bless you all ....

Back in the swing

I am back in the blogosphere after a long hiatus. Frankly, I spent so much time keeping up with the election that I just did not take the time to post (the cardinal sin among bloggers). The election didn't turn out the way I would have wanted, but that's what makes America great ... Americans spoke. I just hope the Democratic leadership can start acting like grownups now that they have the reins. Locally, here in Forsyth County, voters approved two bond referendums ...  $25 million for the local community college and $250 million, yes I said $250 million for the public schools. Supporters of the public school referendum printed posters with children's pictures on them ... and well ... you know the rest. I thought that's why North Carolina had an "Education Lottery!" I am linking to a great post by Jim Geraghty and an article by perhaps the best and wittiest columnist around, Mark Steyn. Enjoy ...

Rice disputes contentions in book

Secretary Rice clearly disputes at least three of the contentions in Washington Post Managing Editor Bob Woodward's book, "State of Denial." More to come on this story ...

Finally hooked up!

I finally got my DirecTV hooked up today (after moving almost four weeks ago … quick, huh) and eagerly sat down for a few minutes to watch a little ESPN and The NFL Network. Of course, it was all T.O., all the time. Florio is fed up and swears off of anymore Terrell Owens talk. Owens certainly has issues. At some point all the extra junk kinda overshadows his talent and he will move on. I can imagine Cowboys coach Bill Parcells’ head is set to explode. It is sad to see a man with so much talent squander it all for some incredibly narcissistic (I really like the word narcissistic … kind of reminds me of a former president) need for attention. What makes the situation particularly sad is  seeing those around him who seem to have ulterior motives … read the whole post linked above. T.O.’s publicist declared he had “25 million reasons to live." Talk about enablers ... unbelievable.

Fair and Balanced

The linked article below in the Raleigh News & Observer is a perfect example of one-sided reporting. Whether or not homework is beneficial is a topic for another day. I ask you; couldn’t the reporter find one teacher who disagreed with the premise (homework bad)?

Notice the reporter’s use of the words “some”, “most” and “many” in the article. Can anyone tell me what numbers or facts those words represent?

What Matters Most

Why do I blog? For me the answer is simple ... the future of our country and the safety and security of my family. I truly believe that Islamic fanaticism is the defining issue of this generation and one of the greatest perils of our times. With that being said, there is one political party that is serious about national security (The Republican Party), and with all frankness, one party that cannot be trusted with the reins of power (The Democratic Party). Should the Democrats win in November, Nancy Pelosi will be third in line for the presidency ... for the sake of our country, that cannot happen. That is why I blog.
